Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Announced

by Raychul on April 7, 2009

A new Silent Hill has been announced for Wii, PSP, and PS2. The newest in the series will be like a re-telling of the original, but not a scene-for-scene remake. Gamers will still be playing as Harry Mason who is wandering around Silent Hill looking for his daughter Cheryl.

Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. says, “Silent Hill: Shattered Memories returns to its roots in this re-imagining of the original Silent Hill with the most interactive and frightening installment of the decade-old series. With a deep storyline, eerie music and a psych profile that watches its players and evolves to expose their innermost fears throughout the game, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is sure to evoke fear in both franchise newcomers and longtime survival horror fans.”

The Wii version will have players using the Wiimote as their flashlight and cell phone, and also announced is there will no longer be any permanently locked doors. The cell phone will be used as an in-game pause menu with maps, clues, and a camera.

I am a huge Silent Hill fan, but this announcement does cause me to hesitate a bit. A new Silent Hill game that will be a re-teeling but not a re-make from the first one and it will only be released on the PSP, PS2 and Wii?! Hmm, causes one to worry a bit.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is due out this fall.
